| Dog owner education is the key to the dog adoption problem, by choosing the right dog breed and getting involved in your dog's care. "The HSUS estimates that animal shelters care for between 6-8 million dogs and cats every year in the United States, of whom approximately 3-4 million are euthanized. The majority of the surrendered dogs (47.7%) and cats (40.3%) are between 5 months and 3 years of age. Undesirable behavior is the number one reason why dogs end up in Shelters. Most dogs (96%) had not received any obedience training. It is important to start training your puppy as soon as you bring it home! Our training is designed to bring out the very best in your dog. We are teaching using positive reinforcement techniques and ALL Sessions are FUN! with individualized attention for you and your dog. We will give you the "tools" to train your dog at home between sessions and after your friend has graduated . YOU will need to do 3-4 sessions of 5-10 minutes training a day to achieve your goals and to prevent your dog from becoming bored. Keep it "short and sweet". Be upbeat and make it FuN. Keep in mind that puppies have a much shorter concentration span so minimize the time.
With every class we offer Life Long Service to every Student, with any future problems we can help with. Special Discount for All Rescue Animals, Vet technicians, Military, Students, Seniors and repeating Clients. Evaluation Session for Behavioral Training (1.5 - 2 hours $55): I will gather helpful information to find out where the problems may originate. While I have your undivided attention I will ask questions and we'll discuss a protocol for your particular situation. Every family and dog is different, therefor I will design an individual training program for you after I have evaluated the situation and talked with you and your family. Once my evaluation is complete you can choose to sign up for a training program to begin as soon as possible, or you may want to think about it and contact me later. Either way, you are not obligated in any way to sign up for further training should you, for whatever reason, decide not to do so. Test IF your dog has already attended a Obedience class with us or some place else) Started in 1989, CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. Many dog owners choose Canine Good Citizen training as the first step in training their dogs. The Canine Good Citizen Program lays the foundation for other AKC activities such as obedience, agility, tracking, and performance events. As you work with your dog to teach the CGC skills, you'll discover the many benefits and joys of training your dog. Training will enhance the bond between you and your dog. Dogs who have a solid obedience education are a joy to live with-they respond well to household routines, have good manners in the presence of people and other dogs, and they fully enjoy the company of the owner who took the time to provide training, intellectual stimulation, and a high quality life. We sincerely hope that CGC will be only a beginning for you and your dog and that after passing the CGC test, you'll continue training in obedience, agility, tracking, or performance events OFF Leash training classes (only 4 or less well mannered, socialized, non aggressive dogs in class) $35 one Session off leash/ recall $120 for 4 Sessions, OFF LEASH, Basic Manners class. Previous obedience class required. Qualified dogs only! Teaching your dog to comply with you when he's off leash can be hard. Although some dogs make the transition easily, without seeming to notice that the leash is no longer attached to their collar, other dogs will take off for a long and potentially dangerous run. Do not attempt to do off-leash work with a puppy. Only mentally mature, well-trained dogs should be worked off leash. To keep your dog safe, never attempt to train off leash with an untrained, non responsive dog. In addition, always be aware of where you are and what is surrounding you. Train inside with the outside doors closed or train outside in a securely fenced area. Make sure no one is going to open the door or gate and leave it open while your dog is off leash. Be aware and be safe. Before starting any off-leash training, evaluate your dog. There are no refunds after classes begin. We encourage you to observe our classes so that you are certain that Dogs Live Happy is the right place for you. All dogs/puppies have to be current on their vaccinations, incl. Bordetella. Copy of Shot record required. |
