LOST Animal

please read here what steps to take to find your loving companion

What to do if I lost my animal CLICK HERE!

The easiest place to start your search for your local animal shelter  online at Pets911.
com.
Here you can enter your zip code and find a list of animal shelters, animal control
agencies, and other animal care organizations in your community. In addition, the
site features animals available for adoption, low-cost spay-neuter services, and
volunteer opportunities.

You may also want to look in your phone book. Animal shelters are called by a
variety of names, so look in the Yellow Pages under listings such as "animal shelter,"
"humane society," or "animal control." Public animal care and control agencies are
often listed under the city or county health department or police department.

We also offer to post your lost Pet on our Petfinder page.

To do so we need  the following information:

  • Where the animal was lost:
A minimum is state, county, (not country), city, and street name, with cross streets. The name of your housing
development is not enough.

  • When the animal was lost:
Please give the date, and a general time of day, if known.

  • A description of the animal, including color and markings: PICTURES ARE ALWAYS HELPFUL!
Please be sure to include age, approximate size and/or weight and sex. Giving a breed or species name is not
enough. Not everyone knows what a Briard looks like and or what color your mean when you say a dog is blue
or a cat is red. Be sure to mention if the animal was wearing tags or is tattooed or microchipped. We will not
put the id numbers on the web page.

  • Contact Information:
You must include contact information. Your name, phone # & email are required. We strongly prefer to hear
from the actual owner of the animal, and we do require the actual owner's name, phone number and email
address if they have one as well as that of any contact person.

  • Other information:
The circumstances of how your animal was lost can be helpful, for instance, if your dog was frightened by
fireworks, he may have spent quite a while running. If your animal mats easily, or likes to roll in the mud, that
may help.  If you are offering a reward, this is where it would be mentioned.

GET YOUR COMPANION MICRO-CHIPPED

Advantages of having your Pet micro-chipped.

When your pet is separated from you, you want to make sure that someone can help you to get
back together. That person needs to be able to check your pet and find out who the owner is.

Collars and tags are great, but they're not perfect.

REASONS TO MICROCHIP YOUR PET AND REGISTER IT:

• Collars can come off, or be taken off
• Tags can wear out and be hard to read
• Some pets can't wear collars

What if there was a way to identify your pet that was permanent and provided absolute proof of
ownership? There is! Microchips are the single best way to identify pets providing you have
REGISTERED your microchip. Having your pet microchipped is the single most important thing
you can do to ensure that your pet will be reunited with you.

A microchip is a tiny capsule (about the size of a grain of rice) containing a permanent ID code
that emits a signal on a specific radio frequency that enables the scanner to read the code. This
information is then matched with owner identification data on file.

Inserting the microchip is quick, sterile, and no more painful than a routine vaccination. After
it's in, the animals don't notice it. The chip is inserted between the pet's shoulder blades.

Some day, there may be a universal system. Until then, the best protection you can give your
pet is to have them microchipped as soon as possible.
